Our club membership fees are $275 per year or $25 per month for short-term membership. Club fees cover our fiscal year which runs from September to August, and are due each Fall term in September, e.g. at the beginning of the season. These fees include access to all practice locations and group classes. For those joining the club after completing a beginner and/or intermediate class with us, first-year membership fees are discounted appropriately for that first year of membership only. Once the next September comes around, they then pay $275 like all other members, and continute to do so each Fall. Beginner classes taken at other clubs are not subject to this discount, but do provide immediate ability to join our club without further prep.

For experienced fencers joining our club after the Fall term has passed, the membership fee will be prorated for that year depending on the month that they joined; again they would pay the full $275 the following September with all other members.

Visiting Experienced Fencers

Visiting fencers from other clubs and countries, who have their own equipment, are always welcome to join us on any practice night. In the spirit of welcoming fencers, we do not charge a fee for a first-time visit just to come observe the club, meet us and ask any questions. However if you would like to fence, we ask that you pay either a) $10 floor fee for the evening, or join the club and pay either b) $25 per month or c) the full yearly $275 fee (or whatever the prorated fee is depending on the month you joined); whichever is more suitable for you. Visiting fencers from university clubs who would like to practice at Metro Blades while in Toronto for the summer term pay $100 for May - August.

For those who have no experience in fencing at all, we require that you take a beginner’s class, either at Metro Blades or another club, prior to joining as a member at our club.
